Invisible Illness Week

National Invisible Illness Week
September 9-15

"This annual event, started in 2002 by Lisa Copen, features a variety of ways to get involved including some chat sessions September 9-13 online with special guests."

Even though it says national, I know many others from around the world visit the website and take part each year. For some, it's being part of something new because you may have only just heard about it. For others, it maybe your first time that you can be a part because you have only recently been diagnosed.

Whatever your circumstances, know that there will be many things to learn about many different people who live with chronic illness.

The theme for this year is.....  "I choose to ________  ".  How would YOU fill in the blank?

"With nearly 1 in 2 people living with a chronic condition, about 96% of those people are suffering silently with invisible illnesses."

Go to the friends we know

Miss Me But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set on me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free.

Miss me a little - but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take,
and each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
a step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart,
go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
miss me, but let me go.

It's been very hard for me the last few months. It's never easy to see someone you love become so ill, bear such pain and then pass away. Last week I said farewell to my father. Someone very dear to me who I have known all my life, it was such a blessing to have known him.

The words from the poem above was read out at his funeral and they have helped me navigate through the last few days. I'm sure it's what he would have said to me.

Do you have a poem or verse that has helped you in times of great loss?

Are you eating Food... or "Phude"?

Most of us know - its actually happening - big companies and corporations that interfere with natural plants and animals that God designed in the name of science for monetary gain.

Companies already mass produce, mass harvest and then mutilate the food into over-processed, nutrient deficient, calorie-loaded, addiction-forming products that are then deceivingly marketed to the unsuspecting public. They want you to buy THEIR food - it's easy, fast, at very low cost - a coupon bargain or "for a limited time only"! Do you see it? Are you eating food...or "phude"?

Many are boycotting these mass produced, over-processed products - voting with their feet by walking right past them to leave them on the shelf - or drive right past those numerous chain food outlets.

We are supposed to trust our food producers and marketers aren't we? Authorities such as the FDA have assessed and studied it themselves and they deem it GRAS - generally recognized as safe - and its considered cost effective to serve it to hospital patients and children for their school lunches! Who knows how many calories that children can suck up through a straw each day?

The term "genetically modified" is a term most of us have heard of. We see that money-greedy corporations are mutilating our animals and our seeds to compete unfairly with natural ones right before our eyes. It's massed produced counterfeiting! If you tried to do that to money then put into circulation you would be arrested! We want to know if our food we eat has been altered - so we campaign tirelessly for better food labelling.  Is the campaigning having any effect on what consumers buy? Some more honest companies are doing a great job openly advertising that their products are GMO free. Are we supporting them?

Many now grow their own food at home attempting to provide wholesome, organic meals so we can become more healthy. After all, it's in our best interests for our health, and our wallets, to have better food and need much less of the pharmaceuticals.

Now I hear that its illegal to collect rain water in some states in the USA. So, if you are planning to get collect some rain water to get through this summer's drought you may have to come up with an alternate idea or apply to your local authority for water rights. Some who have had their rain water tested may not want to collect it now anyway after they have discovered that it is contaminated with such things as aluminium, barium and strontium in very high levels and, in some cases, prescription medications. Where do you think all those pharmaceuticals we excrete or have discarded go once they are flushed?

Honey has gone up in price, currently some types of honey sells for around USD35.00 per pound. Why? Fewer bees. Have you stocked up on honey? It has a long shelf life and honey has good nutritional and antibiotic properties.

And have you looked up in the sky lately?  What are those white lines in the sky, usually in a grid pattern? Why are we getting odd-shaped clouds? What are those wispy, glistening, cobweb-like things floating through the air? Why are the trees dying? Why is our weather becoming more extreme?

What do you see? What are you concerned about? Why do you think more and more people are becoming chronically ill?

To get to the right answers.... you have to ask the right questions.

The best way to find love

The best way to find love... is to find God. God is love, love is God. To know God is to know love.

Some have said that we are all born with a "God-shaped place" in our heart that only God can fill. Nothing in this world can fill that place that only God can. Until that place is filled, there is no peace in our hearts. Many of those who have received God into their hearts can testify this to be true, including myself.

God first loved us (1 John 4:19). He knew you before you were born (Psalm 139:13-14). Love is patient, love is kind (1 Cor 13:4). So you can know that your loving God will gently show you the way. God wants us to seek him, reach out for him and find him, he is not far from each one of us (Acts 17:27)

By reading the scriptures you will know the truth about how God loves us. The more we learn and know about God, the more we know about love and how to love others. Is that what you are looking for?
